New milestone for Rocket Lab: 30th launch and 150th satellite delivery mission

Rocket Lab's launch today (September 15) of "The Owl Spreads Its Wings" was as unassuming as a rocket into orbit, but it marked several milestones for the growing space company: 30 launches and 150 satellites were sent into space. The company's maiden trip to orbit took place in January 2018, technically the Electron's second test flight, but the first to successfully deliver a payload into space. That's over 10 years of design, engineering and manufacturing since the company was founded in 2006. It then made 18 consecutive launches, but on the 20th launch an anomaly occurred and it lost its payload and vehicle. But after a month it will be able to fly again. Since then, the company's ambitions have only grown, with plans to design spacecraft, a trip to Venus and a larger and better launch vehicle, the Neutron, to compete with Rocket Lab's larger peers. According to Beck, it was all planned from the start - they just had to get the launch done first. 2022, in addition to its success, includes the first attempt at catching a falling head stage with a helicopter. It is reported that today's launch was carried out as the Japanese company Synspective launched the StriX-1 satellite into a 563-kilometer circular orbit.
