Apple admits that initial settings cannot be completed via Wi-Fi, causing some iPhone 14s to fail to activate

Apple officially admits that some new iPhone 14s cannot be initialized through Wi-Fi, causing the device to fail to activate normally. Apple officials are currently investigating this issue. In a memo obtained by foreign technology media MacRumors, Apple said this is a known issue "existing in iOS 16" that may affect device activation in an open Wi-Fi network environment. For users with the above issues, Apple says that when prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network, customers should select "Connect to a Mac or connect to a PC using iTunes" in the initial settings, then return to the previous screen and restart on Wi-Fi try. Apple noted in the memo that there is currently no official fix and that support "should not create a fix [case] for this issue." Unfortunately, as customers around the world begin to receive their iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and ‌iPhone 14 Pro‌ Max pre-orders, a fix for this bug won't be in time.
