Valve's new brochure reveals next-gen Steam Deck will be even more powerful

After shipments of the original Steam Deck improved significantly, and some of the original Q4 orders could be shipped in Q3, Valve began revealing plans for a successor model, hoping to equip it with more features. In addition to confirming that Valve is opening up the Asian market, it has also been detailed through a Steam Deck brochure. The brochure goes into some depth, such as SteamOS getting a generic installer so any user can install the latest SteamOS after connecting the Steam Deck to their PC. However, the more important part of this booklet is about the upcoming next-gen version of the Steam platform, aka Steam Deck 2. Valve is looking forward to the future. Valve aims to follow up on the product with hardware and software improvements and iterations, bringing a new version of Steam Deck to market. This will essentially turn portable PCs and other devices from Valve's hardware division, like the Index, into a multi-generational product line. Valve will learn from the Steam community about new uses for the platform that they hadn't thought of before, and will basically use this feedback to further improve the Steam Deck. Valve also said it wanted the new version of the handheld to be "more open" than the first generation. Considering that it's already a very open system in itself, it's only a matter of time before the company comes up with a way to make SteamOS more accessible to users. Of course, this is just a vision of the future, not a reality. So stay tuned for more news about the console's upcoming iteration.
